How the Galactic Recession has changed lives for the better
Before the galactic recession the best word to describe Kroy was decadent.
As a Territory, Kroy was addicted to growing unhealthy financial systems and real estate prices, and living lifestyles that could not reasonably be supported. The recession was a cruel reset back to reasonable norms, but it is a difficult short-term adjustment period.
Any change as drastic as the recession does not come about without a need. Its presence has helped to make many overtaxed systems stronger. And it has only helped to make the Kroy people stronger as well. While the economic downturn is still a negative force in most of our lives, there are a great number of people who have turned it into a positive.
And that can be seen in the new focus in the Kroy people. For some it’s a needed refocus on the true worth in their lives. Polls from major news sources show that people who lost the most in the recession feel humbled at their new connections with family, values and faith. Because of the plunge in house prices there are those who have been able to buy a home when they never dreamed of having the opportunity before. There are a large number of people who have used their unintended free time to go back to school.
And then there are those who are taking bad financial times as a call to adventure. The Leyd Family was recently interviewed by the news source ‘SNMBC’ for a daring decision. When Mr. Leyd lost his high-powered job, it was clear they wouldn’t be able to afford more than a few months of their mortgage payments. Instead of despairing, the Leyd’s acted on a dream. They sold their house and bought a high-end interplanetary mobile home which they’ve been living out of ever since. They’ve become healthier, since they’ve been making a conscious effort to only eat fresh food from local markets. The family has become closer, and the children love spending more time with their parents. Both husband and wife have jobs they can do in transit and the kids are homeschooled through the internet. And the Leyd’s aren’t the only family doing this. Over 400,000 families live between-planets full time, and that number is growing due to families who are taking leaving home as a new chance rather than a sentence.
A recession was one thing no one wanted, and very few needed. But the Kroy people are resilient and can adapt easily. The lessons learned through heartache and agonies are the ones that are most effective and most utilized. We can see that in the many individuals who are already making the best of this difficult situation.
Just as they have found new ways to survive and thrive in this new world so can we all. The depth of strength that comes from the ability to hope is immeasurable.
